Is there a way to enhance the Monitor with scripting?

Hi,

I’m just wondering, is there a way to enhance the Monitor of 6.1 or 6.2 with new GUIs? For example a render ouptut thumbnail strip for quick-checking your renders directly in the Monitor panels? Is it possible with just Python scripting?
