I have recently purchased a new system which has 3DS Max 2011 with VRay, while my repository and other slaves are all working on 3DS Max 2010 With VRay. Can I submit a job from my repository (2010) and have all the slaves (2010 and 2011) participate in this? Currently, when I submitted the job, the 2011 system failed as it was looking for 2010 to take up the job. If this can be done, do I have to change any config?

If you submit from the Submit menu in the Monitor, you can choose which version of Max to use. The other option would be to change the path to the 2011 executable in the 3dsmax plugin configuration to also point to the 2010 executable. That way jobs submitted from Max 2010 or 2011 will all render with 2010.
Just note that since you are submitting from a new version to an older version of Max, you may run into compatibility problems.
