Jobs rendering but not appearing in Monitor

Hi,

For our 2D animation, we use a program called CelAction which now has the ability to submit its renders to Deadline. It’s got a basic implementation at the moment and doesn’t have the necessary plugins to identify it in Deadline so appears as a command line job in the Monitor. However, we’re getting some odd behaviour where some of the jobs that are submitted never appear in the Monitor. They’re definitely rendered eventually and are visible in the Jobs folder in the Repository but monitor seems to ignore them.

There’s a consistent difference between the two jobs: The jobs that are visible just have a .job and .tmp file in their folders. The ones that aren’t visible seem to have more information, including a .lock file for the .job file, a .override file named as the pool name and a taskInfo.txt and tastStats.txt.

Any ideas why this would be the case? Only one machine is submitting the jobs and each time the program is being closed down and reopened.

Thanks,

I’m not sure what would prevent the jobs from appearing in the Monitor. Do you have any filters enabled in the Monitor that might be filtering these jobs out? The .lock, .override, and .txt files are normal, and should have no effect on whether or not the job appears in the Monitor.

Which version of Deadline are you using? Perhaps you can zip up 2 job folders (one that displays and one that doesn’t), and we can dump them in our test repository and see if we can reproduce the problem.

Hi Ryan,

I’ve been trying to reproduce this problem for the past week and have been unable to do so! Not quite sure what happened there but it seems to have solved itself. Will let you know if it reoccurs.

Cheers,

Jon
