Krakatoa and TP5

Has anyone tested Krakatoa with Thinking Particles 5 yet? Is it working?

Hah funny I was just testing FumeFX 3 with TP5, switched to Krakatoa and a basic ffxBirth and Follow system renders fine in 2.1.2.47756, if that is any help. I’ll try it again in a mintute when I switch to 2.1.3.

That’s cool, I am using Max 2012 right now, does that mean I would have to upgrade to 2013?

Supposedly 2.1.3 fixes the issues we had with the new SDKs.
Try it out in 2012 and let us know if you find any problems.

From the release notes: thinkboxsoftware.com/krakato … hange-log/
2.1.3: FumeFX 3 support was broken in 3ds Max 2012 and earlier. This has been fixed.

I will have my tp 5 in a few days, but in the meantime, I installed FumeFX 3.0.1 and TP 4.0.7.5 on Max 2012 update 7 and this seems to be working fine on my workstation and the renderfarm as well…

FumeFX 3.0.1 has a bug in its exposure and is unsupported by Krakatoa. You need at least 3.0.2 to use it with Krakatoa. JFYI.

ok, thanks for the heads up. I will let you know on the TP 5 as soon as I can.

So I got my tp 5 and installed it. I am using Krakatoa ver 2.1.3.47998. When I went to PRT it, I got an error that says it’s not supported in TP5 yet. is that the case? If so when are we looking at getting it supported? tks.

Can you post the exact error or a screen capture of it?

EDIT: I just used Krakatoa 2.1.3 in Max 2013 to save TP5 particles to a PRT sequence and found no errors. Need details.

Here it is…

Here is the Max Scene I used that produced that error, if you want to Dissect it.

Just got word that TP5 is only supported in 3ds Max 2013 right now because we only had the TP5 SDK for that version.
It looks like the SDK for older versions is now available from Cebas though, so we will recompile to support 2010 to 2012, too.

Thanks Bobo, When do you think we will see that version for 2012?

Our hope is early next week (Monday is a holiday, so probably after that).
