Krakatoa flickering

Hello,

Recently I’ve been having some problems with Krakatoa flickering.
My scene is pretty basic with a particle simulation made in FumeFX and then partitioning it and import as PRT Loader.
First I thought it was due to strange parameters in magmaflow but after I’ve been rendering it with just a standard scan line material I still get this issues.
Flickering appear as the light becomes much brighter in some frames; usually like every 20-30th frame or so, makes the Krakatoa object looks like a cloud with flashes inside.
All the settings are quite ordinary.

If someone experience this and knows a solution then please let me know.

I’m running Krakatoa 1.6 with 3D studio Max 2012.

Sorry for bumping, but I desperately need some advice on how to solve this.
This problem usually occurs when there’s a moving camera in the scene. I’ve tried to freeze the krakatoa animation (limit to costume range) but there’s still flickering.
Very grateful for any advice.

Hi James,

Sorry we missed your original post, 14th was Thanksgiving in Canada and we did not work on that day, and somehow it scrolled off the New Posts list until Tuesday :frowning:

I am not sure what the problem could be (esp. since 1.6 is a few years old), but it would be very helpful to see either a short video or two frames (one good, one bad) side by side. Even better if you could upload the Max scene and the PRT sequence so we can try to test it here. (I do have 1.6 around and could also see if it still happens in the latest build).

Have you tried rendering in the latest 2.1.8 build of Krakatoa in evaluation mode (with watermark) to see if it happens there too?
