Hi Darcy,
Any luck with this SEH exception ?. We still get it on a great number of our scenes … but then once or twice it’ll work fine.
The elements are very useful
cheers

Hi Ben,
I’m not exactly sure if I’ve found the source of that one yet. We do have a new BETA release that fixes a number of bugs, so it would be great if you could try that: http://www.thinkboxsoftware.com/krakatoa-downloads/beta-builds/
Hello,
Just a quick post to say thank you to all who took the time to help and made suggestions whilst we got Krakatoa up and running at Nexus. This was our first dip into the world of Krakatoa and it proved incredibly powerful. We’ve finally completed the project (A new Honda advert for Europe) and it’s been released this week, if you want to see what we were up to you can check out the video here :

Thanks all, we really couldn’t have done this without the great community surrounding Krakatoa and Deadline.

Hey Ben,
Congrats. Excellent work.Nice to see your work on fxguide as well, good exposure
I’m sure Thinkbox would love to see some of this work on their main website as well?
Regards,
Mike
I posted the news the moment I read about the ad!
Unfortunately, I have no access to the front page…
Awesome work - congratulations Ben and the whole Nexus team!
Just out of curiosity, are there any technical issues left unresolved regarding Krakatoa / Deadline rendering?
We ended up in a pretty good place, our only real workflow issues were with motion blur as we were using Vray, scanline and krakatoa so we decided to post motion blur everything (we fudged the motionblur vectors for Krakatoa as everything was so abstract).
Render elements not working was a bit of an issue as it doubled up a lot of our render times trying to get Zdepths out … Darcy mentioned in this thread that he was still looking into our SEH errors. When I get a moment I’ll dig out one of the Honda renders and resubmit it with the beta Krakatoa to see if it’s fixed.
However other than that everything worked well, Deadline continues to impress !.
cheers

Great work! Wonderful ad, noticed some familiar techniques in it too Some distinctly Matthias flavor
That’ll be because he worked on it
Can you elaborate on this? Its never been clear to me what people expect velocity render elements to look like.
The latest build of Krakatoa (1.6.1.43756) is what you should use for testing. I was never able to repeat your SEH exception, so its still somewhat of a mystery to me. Its definitely a crash (the access violation is referring to a read to an invalid memory location), but I just need to figure out how to repeat it. Here’s the direct link to the newest build http://www.thinkboxsoftware.com/krakatoa-downloads/Krakatoa1.6.1.43756.msi
