Krakatoa Partitions on Deadline license error

i run the free version of deadline on 1 machine, when i send partitions from max to deadline it says starting… rendering but then i get this error:

Error Message
Exception during render: An error occurred in RenderTasks(): RenderTask: Unexpected exception (Exception caught in 3ds max: – Runtime error: Unable to open renderer, possible recursion

)
bei Deadline.Plugins.ScriptPlugin.RenderTasks(Int32 startFrame, Int32 endFrame, String& outMessage)

Krakatoa in max is fine with the license, but deadline seems not.

this is how my license looks:
SERVER Matthias-PC 90e6ba2fb287
VENDOR frantic
FEATURE krakatoa-max frantic 1.50 permanent uncounted
HOSTID=90e6ba2fb287 SIGN=…

i tried to just add “-render” after the words “krakatoa-max” in the license file to get rid of the error but that screws up the krakatoa license

any help ?

That’s a node-locked license that is only serving workstation licenses. The ERR: No such feature exists. Feature: krakatoa-max-render part is saying that the license does not support render nodes. We typically don’t include render nodes in a node-locked license because you can start unlimited copies of workstation mode 3dsMax + Krakatoa. Is there any particular reason that you want to use a render-node in this manner (assuming this is on Matthias-PC)?

Thank you for your answer Darcy, i have 0 idea about all this licensing network ip … stuff. All i know is that i would like to use all my 8 cores to cache particles, if i save particles in max using pflow, as far as i know only 1 core is used for that since pflow is not multithreaded, so my plan was to use deadline to cache 8 partitions simultaniously. If i want to do so i need a floating license instead of a node locked license, is that correct ?

You would not necessarily need a floating license since you a single machine uses a single license, regardless of the number of instances of Krakatoa currently running on it. In your case, you could do this manually by starting max 8 times and running the particle saving stuff. The part that is holding you back is that a render node license was not included in the license you received, only workstation licenses. Check your email, I have sent you an updated license.
