Is SuperUser an all-or-nothing proposition?
I’d like to allow users to suspend / modify jobs submitted by other users, but don’t want to give them full SuperUser powers. Is there a way to allow this?

That’d be great. I don’t like when everyone has full control of the repository settings but job control is a necessity in our studio.

Hey guys,
You can control which menu items Normal and Power users can use in the Repository Options:
thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … r_Security
Note that those docs are for 5.1. If you’re on an earlier version, the option to modify user command permissions can be found in the Tools menu while in super user mode.

Hi Ryan,
This sets the options available to users, but doesn’t allow users to suspend/modify OTHER users’ jobs? That’s what we’re looking for. (user A’s job is slow and he’s gone home for the day. user B’s job is urgent and he wants to suspend user A’s job, but can’t.)
Power users and modify other users’ jobs, so you could make all of your users power users and you should be good.
Cheers,
Hi Ryan,
Aye – that’s the heart of the conflict, I think. Making them Power Users gives them the ability to change everything (Repository Options, etc.). We’re hoping for an in-between. Allow users to modify any jobs they want, without giving them keys to the whole Repository configuration.
Actually, Power Users can’t change repository options, as well as a other things. The only Tools options they could access are managing pools and groups, and those are disabled by default.
Just to clarify, power user is not the same as super user. In the Manage Users option in the Tools menu, you can control which users are normal and power users. You can then tweak the options that normal and power users have access to in the User Security section of the repository options. Super User is the mode that allows you to do everything.
Cheers,
Ah!
I think I was definitely confusing Power User & Super User. I’ll check my brain on that.
Thanks, Ryan.
