When caching in license free mode on one box that functions as deadline master and slave “aka free mode” i get lightningMax.dlx and RenderPluginException when caching, the scene was down-saved from max2013-64. I attached the error report. I would need to cache multiple partitions for the recent job. Deadline Version: 5.1.0.46114, 3dsmax 2010-64, Krakatoa Version: 2.0.1.46319
Error Type:
FailRenderException
Report Message:
3dsmax startup: Did not receive expected token from lightning plugin. (got “”) - check the install of lightningMax.dlx

Hmm, we’re not quite sure what’s happening here. Can you try changing the Concurrent Task setting for the job to 1 and try again? I’m wondering if there is a potential concurrency problem on this machine. If it happens when only rendering one task at a time, send us the new error report and we’ll take a look.
Note that you can change the Concurrent Task setting from the Advanced tab in the Job Properties dialog in the Monitor.
i have yet to render or partition a single job since max2013 is out…
2013-production update 5
fumefx 3.5.1 (the job is a fume follow particle flow)
deadine 5.2.47700
I get this message when I submit from 2013 using Deadline 5.1 (which had no knowledge of 2013 render executable). In fact, I still have 5.1 on one of my machines and got this message just two days ago…
Somehow it feels like your slaves are still running 5.1 or pointing at the wrong Repository or something…
Can you try running the 5.2 repository installer again? Just point to your current repository as the install location. That should “repair” your 3dsmax plugin, since it sounds like it hasn’t been updated.
It also seams that deadine never starts a max 2010 job, it just sits there. no errors, no nothing. I cant even send partitions to deadline though a different max. This is severe as I now have to create all partitions locally on one machine which takes significantly longer
That’s so strange. It sounds like maybe the new plugin files aren’t being copied to the local slave folder on your machine. Can you grab the following files and post them?
Did this start happening after you installed max 2013 on the machine? Maybe check that you have all your max updates applied, and that the latest backburner that shipped with 2013 is installed.

Thanks! That confirms the repository version of the file is missing the 2013 entry. Can you download the repository installer again and try installing it: thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … _47700.zip
I just downloaded it and did a clean install here and it had the 2013 entry. If that doesn’t help, I’ve uploaded the 3dsmax plugin from my clean install here. 3dsmax.zip (4.15 MB)
