Mavericks - License Server Problems

Hello All,

So, I’m having some trouble running my license server. I recently needed to update my computers to Mac OS X Mavericks to be able to run Mari (ATI Graphics Cards) on my computers. Now, when I try to start my license server I get the output “Failed to open any default TCP port.” I’ve scoured the googles but have come up with nothing. Could anyone offer some insight as to what may be going on and how I could get the server running again. Deadline seems to be running fine in free mode (after a reinstall).

Also, I’ve tried providing a specific port to open in the license file and that doesn’t seem to help either. Providing a port just gives me this output “Failed to open the TCP port number in the license.”

– help!

thanks in advance

Hello,

Could I have you check out the file /etc/hosts and verify the following line exists:
127.0.0.1 localhost

Please let us know, as we don’t currently have Mavericks on any of our Macs and this is potentially huge problem. Thanks.

I should have included that info before. I did check this and my hosts file does indeed have “127.0.0.1 localhost”.

Well there goes that hope. I am not sure what to suggest. We might need to do some trouble shooting and see what we can find on this issue.

So! Here’s the handy infos we need:

  1. The output of lmgrd when you run it manually on server via the Terminal.
  2. If your machine can ping itself. Run "ping hostname" in the terminal and see if that works.

If it can’t ping itself, put the name of the machine in /etc/hosts and have it also point to 127.0.0.1. If it’s some error from lmgrd, we’ll have to see what it is before we can move forward.

It should read something like:

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 machine
127.0.0.1 machine.local

Hi
This might be totally OT but from what version of osx did you upgrade? I can’t remember which version step it was, but one of the upgrades changes the host id of your machine. I can’t remember the error i got either  But its worth a try to check your host id again.

Cheers
