Hi guys,
I’ve run into an issue with Deadline 5.1 and Max 2011/2012.
I’ve prepared a scene with a cached Final Gather file in order to save render time and prevent flickering, but when slaves pick up the job, they ignore the cached FG and instead calculate their own FG for every frame.
I have the FG cache in the repository (in the same folder as my texture maps), so the slaves should be able to see it. I get no errors when rendering, and the Max file is definitely set up for read-only, cached Final Gather. Works fine when I render locally.
Any ideas? I’m currently submitting jobs using the monitor as opposed to the Max script (which I’m having a little trouble with).
When you tested a local render, did you test it on one of the slave machines? Maybe they’re unable to see the cache for some reason.
What troubles are you having with the integrated maxscript submitter? If you’re having issues with max 2012 only, note that our submitter requires that at least hotfix 1 for max 2012 be installed. This is because the initial max 2012 release had a maxscript bug that broke our submitter.
Cheers,
Hi Ryan, thanks for the reply. Indeed, it was a lack of hotfix that seemed to be preventing me from submitting using the script.
Now that I’m able to do so, if I use the “Copy ALL External File References to Repository” option, the slaves seem to be using my FG cache correctly. Odd that they weren’t able to do so using the copy of the FG cache in my textures folder (they could see the textures just fine), but I’m a fairly non-technical artist, so the fact that I’ve found a solution and can now use FG caches is enough to make me happy.
