If I have state set in max2015, deadline happens error when rendering and become crash 3dsmax.
I can find this message in some of slave log. “Error connecting to server.exe” But some slaves don’t have this.
And if I reset about state set in the state set panel, I can rendering normally.
I’m using Vray for the renderer.
Please check it.
thanks.
Hi,
Are you running Deadline as a NT service? If so, it’s a known Autodesk issue since it was reported back during the Max 2014 beta program and then again at release and then again during the Max2015 beta program…the even worse news, is that not only State Sets, but now also the new “Scene Explorer” in Max 2015 (both Qt UI based) if visible the UI of the machine rendering your job via NT service, will also cause 3dsMax to crash out. This isn’t Deadline. It also affects Backburner and any other render manager software running as a service.
The current workaround is not to run as a service. I hope this is your issue and there isn’t more going on here…
We have had some internal discussion about trying to find a solution to work-around this issue as a fix for Deadline. Nothing to report on this yet…
hmmmmmm,
I didn’t use state set on max2014. I used only on the 2013…
For the Scene Explorer, if we make this file for each service mode of render nodes, we can get the rendering without crash!
C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2015 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\UI\Workspaces\Workspace1.se.ini
And [Explorer] category and any parameter in that file. And the parameter have to set “Visible=False”
Maybe StateSet has same bypath on some ini file…
I will try to find it.
thanks
Thanks for the SceneExplorer notes, we are just considering our actions as you can have multiple workspaces under each user account. Will users appreciate us forcing the scene explorer Visible=False on all workspaces if Slave is running not just on a rendernode but on a user’s workstation overnight…
It’s amazing what a bit of viral forum posting can do on the interwebs
area.autodesk.com/blogs/maxstati … -a-service
Depending on the exact version of 3dsMax 2013, with or without the subs extension AND with or without certain SP’s, or Max 2014 or Max 2015, State Sets may or may not be broken for you…
(It’s only an issue if running in service mode)
Autodesk attempted hotfixes/service packs in each of these versions with ‘variable’ levels of success, you might say…
State Sets configuration is based around:
C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2015 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\Autodesk.Max.State Sets.config
or if [InstallSettings.ini] > [useUserProfiles=0] then it will be:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2015\en-US\plugcfg\Autodesk.Max.State Sets.config
However, State Set information is stored in the Max file…needs more playing with…
