maya 2013 error

Hello, I have a problem when I’m sending jobs from Maya 2013 to Deadline. in Maya I’m using Mental ray. there I have 6 options for messages. In Deadline I have only 5 options for messages’ and I don’y have the option for “no messages”.
i think that printing the errors, slows render time.
I’ve upload a picture of the error

Hi!

How much output is getting printed out with Fatal Messages Only selected? Maybe you could post a log from a job? Deadline can handle large amounts of stdout, so I’d be surprised if the difference between Fatal Messages and No Messages could slow down the render. I’d like to see how long a log is to see if it’s possible that it might be slowing down the render. You can find the logs by right-clicking on the job in the Monitor and selecting Job Reports -> View Log Reports.

Also, what are you comparing the Deadline render times to? To a local render? Are you comparing per-frame render times, or overall time for the full sequence?

We can definitely look at adding the No Messages option, but I just want to figure out if it’s actually slowing down your render.

Cheers,

hi!
Thanks for the quick response
It seemed that I had a problem with a particular plugin.

But I have a new problem.
When I send a job to render, the software renderer successfully only when the license of Maya is fully activated. The monitor shows me that the task is completed but the folder left blank. Only when I send a mission full license of Maya, he renderer without a problem.
Do I have a problem with settings

Which renderer are you rendering with (mayaSoftware, mentalray, etc)?

Can you post a log from a job that didn’t produce any frames? See my previous post on how to get these logs from Deadline. Hopefully there will be something in the log that explains why it didn’t produce any output.

Thanks!

Hi
another question.
Every time I submit a job the render node uses only one CPU instead of the 24 I have on that machine.
I checked the preferences for that render slave and all the CPUs are checked.
Any idea what can cause this?
Thanks

Thanks for letting us know the renderer you were using. I was also looking for the render log though. You can find the logs by right-clicking on the job in the Monitor and selecting Job Reports → View Log Reports. I want to see what Maya is printing out when the job doesn’t render anything.

Note that mental ray requires either a full interactive maya license or a maya batch license to render. I believe a floating interactive Maya license comes with 5 batch licenses, but you should double check with Autodesk (or your reseller) to see what your license entitlements are.

A log would be helpful here too. We can check the command line arguments that Deadline is sending to Maya. Deadline should be passing the argument to say how many threads to use, or if auto-threading should be enabled, so I want to check the log to confirm this.

Thanks!

Hi!

I have a question about maya 2013 license.

Do I need to install a network license when I’m using Deadline?

Thanks again

Gili

It depends which renderer you are rendering with. For example, mayaSoftware doesn’t require a license, but Mental Ray for Maya does. Mental Ray can use Maya batch licenses though, it doesn’t need to have a full interactive license.
