Maya Rendering Problem

Hi there,

i get the following error msg when i try to render via maya with a v-ray plugin.

RenderPluginException – Exception during render: An error occurred in RenderTasks(): Deadline caught error “Error: (Mayatomr) : could not get a license”. If this error message is unavoidable but not fatal to your render, please email support@thinkboxsoftware.com with the error message, and disable the Maya job setting Strict Error Checking.

Anyone an idea?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,

Basti

Hey Basti,

I couldn’t help but notice you mentioned you were rendering with V-ray, but in the error message “Mayatomr” is mentioned, which is only used when rendering with MentalRay. I’m wondering if maybe the selected renderer was accidentally switched to MentalRay from V-Ray when submitting the job; could you check if that was the case?

Cheers,

  • Jon

Hi Jon,

you are right, i was rendering with MentalRay… my fault.

But i dont get a licence… :frowning:

And usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps … C-RSSSUP01 this here isnt my solution…

Caus i got no real licence running - only in “testmode” on the nodes.

I have changed the real path to “pathto”.

Anyone an idea?

Mental Ray licensing is unfortunately out of our hands. I seem to recall that a floating interactive Maya licenses comes with 5 batch licenses, but it would probably be best to contact Autodesk (or your reseller) to determine what your licensing entitlements are.

The error message you posted seems to be complaining about fur though. I noticed though that you are submitting from the Monitor, and that you have the ‘file’ option selected for the renderer. Maybe try submitting the same job again, but this time choose the renderer in the drop down that you want to use. If that doesn’t make a difference, let us know and we can explore further.

Thanks!

Hey there,

I notice that the licensing error mentioned in the first post isn’t in here; I just wanted to confirm that that was no longer the issue at hand.

Either way, the next step here would probably be to attempt to eliminate Deadline as a potential suspect in this error; try running the following command from the command line on one of your slaves (you’ll have to switch “pathto” back to your real path of course):

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2010\bin\Render.exe" -r file -s 33 -e 33 -b 1 -rd "V:/pathto/images" -proj "V:/pathto" "V:\pathto\scenes\rendering\rendering_04x.mb"

This is the command that the slave is invoking. If that command doesn’t work on your render slaves, then it’s likely not Deadline causing the issue. If it doesn’t work on your slaves, but DOES work on your local workstation, then it’s likely that there’s some dependencies/plugin setup in the scene that’s missing from the slaves and is causing the job to fail.

Hopefully that’ll give us a better idea of what’s actually causing the problem.

Hope this helps,

  • Jon
