maya Submission Script is very slow

Hi evreybody,
the first thing: Deadline is the most powerfull and “our-needs-hitting-rendermanager” we ever had. I like it much.
But now my (little) problem: In the version 4.* we submitted óur jobs from 4 machines. At one of these machines the submission-script in Maya came up very, very slow - we had to wait a minute or so. But we had three other machines -it was´nt a problem.
Now with version 5.0 this little problem appears at all machines. Is this a known problem or what can we do?

Hi Jörg,

We heard of this behavior before in 5.0, and the few people that have experienced it have claimed that it’s fixed in 5.1. We were never able to reproduce the problem here, and we didn’t do anything between versions to specifically target the issue.

To confirm that it’s the issue we are thinking of, can you open a command prompt on one of your submission machines and just run deadlinecommand.exe without any arguments. All this is supposed to do is print out the usage, and if this takes a minute or so, then this confirms it’s the issue we’re thinking of.

Hi Ryan,
we have done the thing with the “deadlinecommand.exe” and it came up in 4-5 sec. - so this seems not to be the problem.

Now we will install 5.1 (that can take a while - our admins are busy in the moment) and after that I´ll give you the feedback.
