Monitor GUI : Filter Job Status : buttons!!

Hi,
The biggest gripe I receive from our artists since v3, has been the removal of the job status buttons across the top of the monitor!
Any chance of having the option to have this older style interface, just for this filter back?
Thanks,
Mike

That’s funny, because people had issues with the button filters as well, which motivated us to use the drop down menu. We didn’t like the button feature so much either because it took up quite a bit of space in the tool bar, and when we added the other filters for pool, user, plugin, etc, it required the user to have their Monitor width pretty wide just to display all the filter options. For this reason, it’s unlikely that we would add the buttons back.

What’s their biggest gripe about the drop downs? Maybe there are ways we can improve them.

Cheers,

I think the gripes fall into 2 main categories:

  1. Fast, visual feedback of what Job Status filters are enabled/disabled in the monitor.ie: the buttons depressed are very fast for the human eye to scan and start to logically work out what is going on and the old classic question I get, “why can’t I see my job in the queue…?”

and

  1. You can’t select / de-select more than 1 filter group at a time to turn it ON or OFF. I guess either a control+LMB or shift+LMB solution would be helpful…but better still, like layers in Photoshop, if you click on the “eye” symbol of one particular layer to turn it ON or OFF, but then scrub the cursor over the other layers, then the other layers also get turned ON or OFF, depending on the state of the first layer to be affected. Cool, but probably quite complicated to code…!

All the other monitor filters are fine, its just the job filters which are used ALL the time, compared to the other filters…

Thanks. For (1), we lighten the contrast of the drop down icon to indicate that items are currently filtered out, but for (2), maybe we can find a way to allow multiple selections without having to open up the drop down for each click.
