Is DL 4.1 SP1 compatible with the just-released Mono 2.8?

We haven’t tested it with Deadline yet. According to the release notes, Mono 2.6.x is still considered the “stable” release:
mono-project.com/Release_Notes_Mono_2.8

So until we have tested Deadline with 2.8 (which we should be able to do during the next beta program), we recommend that you stick with 2.6.x.

We have done some preliminary tests with Mono 2.8, and we discovered there may be an issue with the scroll bars in the list controls in the Monitor. So for the time being, we’re still going to stick with the Mono 2.6.x releases as a requirement for Deadline.
