Motion Blur with Krakatoa/Vray

Hello everyone.

I am sitting on a sequence that contains some particles and moving objects. The objects are rendered with Vray and turned on motion blur (interval center set to 0.0). The particles are rendered using the Krakatoa renderer (of course!), also with motion blur on and the object defined as a matte. Unfortunately a gap between the particles and the object exists when composing the layers. The object is by the way skinned! I just read the following in the Krakatoa Manual:

“Moving Matte Objects are supported at Position/Rotation/Scaling transformations level but Motion Blur does not account for geometry deformations yet”

Is that maybe the problem? How can it be fixed (or can it be fixed at all) tweaking the Matte Objects Motion Blur Bias?

Thanks a lot!

If it’s not supported maybe you can do a matte pass in vray and render only the particles and comp it all together afterwards… dependes on the shot.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

I hope that this feature would be added into the future releases of Krakatoa (as well as support of particle age  )

As the documentation explains, Krakatoa also supports the native Max Multi-Pass Motion Blur. It is a lot slower because each pass has to recalculate the particles, BUT it takes into account the deformations of the matte objects.

Try that.

We have the deformation motion blur support on our To Do list, but it is tricky to say the least…
