Multple User Accounts with Deadline Launcher

Hi,
We’ve come across an issue with the Deadline Launcher (ver 4.1) and Windows Vista 64 Business (could be other versions as well) when multiple users are logged on to the same system.

Example:
If a user logs in to one of our Vista workstations Deadline Launcher fires up and runs fine. If another user goes to that same system and “switches user accounts” but does not log off the first user Deadline Launcher does not start-up.

In pulling up the Task Manager I can see that Deadline Launcher is still running under the first user’s account. Is this a limitation or known bug with Deadline 4.1?

Thanks!

This is done by design. The Launcher is the point of contact between the client machine it is running on and other Deadline apps running on different machines. For example, when you use the Slave’s Remote Control feature from the Monitor, this communication is done with the Launcher running on the remote machine. So we need to ensure that only one Launcher is running at a time, and that’s why you see the behavior you’re seeing.

Cheers,

Thanks Ryan, good to know!
