notifications

Is there a way to setup the notifications so that when a job fails or times out the submitter can be notified via email?

I can only figure out how to set it up to email the submitter when the job finishes, but if it fails there doesn’t seem to be any way to notify them of the failure.

Also the job complete notifications go through just fine, but none of the other notifications seem to go through at all.

Yes, this is all possible…must be something wrong…
Under properties of the actual job in the queue, make sure in the advanced tab, “Send Warning for Job Errors” is checked ON.
Also, login as super user and under tools, “Configure Repository Options”, under “Failure Detection”, have a look at your settings as this is probably what is wrong…
Try some settings like say; 25, 5, 5, 5, 0 for the 5 settings in this drop-down list as a starting point…and see how you get on…
If you’re receiving completed job emails, then your email address has been configured correctly…(BTW: You can tell deadline to send emails, net messages or both, under user options…)

PS: For global emails to a central account, check out “Notification Accounts” list in the repository options as well…

I check for the “send warnings for job errors” and was checked ON. How do I ensure this is always ON?

I put in the settings you recommended, which were very close to how I set them when I originally configured the repository.

I still receive completed job notifications, but no error notifications to either the job submitter or the account listed under the notification accounts.

one more thing, I have users asking me if they can have 2 email addresses that get notified.

most of our workers cant check company email outside the plant site so they want notifications to be sent to their home email address. or better yet a text message to a cell phone.

The users would like to be able to set which email the notification goes to so the appropriate email address gets the message depending on where they expect to be while the job renders.

thanks
