OSX slave not starting job

Deadline 6.1
3 power macs (one machine is the licence server/mono database)
1 PC
NAS (Repository)

When i submit a job from any computer, none of the Mac Slaves will pick up the job. The PC will pick it up right away, but the macs just show “idle” in the monitor. If i go and click the slave window on each of the macs, it will pick up the job.

The machines aren’t asleep when i’m submitting, they are just sitting idle, so it’s not a wake up issue. Once one of the mac slaves picks up a job, it’s 50/50 if it will continue picking up jobs, or go back to sitting idle.

Does anybody have any information that could help me problem solve this?

Thanks!

Hello,

This is actually something we are actively looking into to try to get a good idea of what is causing this. If we have any ideas or need of data, we will reach, as I have added you to my list.

I’ve actually encountered this as well. I have two mac minis as slaves that are only reachable by screen sharing. Node #2 often sits idle until I use screen sharing and then click on the slave window. It generally picks up a job within seconds of clicking the window.

I think I may have solved the issue. Node #2 actually had a monitor plugged into it that was never used. Node #1 did not and was generally picking up jobs reliably. Once I removed the monitor connection from Node #2 it began to cue much more reliably. Perhaps a coincidence, but seemed like a direct response.

Hello,

It looks like we should be able to squeeze a fix for this in 6.2, which is in late beta. We hope to release that in the next few weeks.
