One of my artists loaded a scene in maya and attempted to submit a job in deadline through the maya submittion script. He wanted to change the output image path by clicking on the button but when he found the folder and clicked okay, the output name did not change. We tried it a few times but it kept giving the same reponse… nothing. Is this link broken?
Also, does it matter if there are (’’)s around the output file name? ie ‘\nas\jobname’ rather than \nas\jobname.
Thanks,
Jonathan
Just tested this here, and both the Output Path and Project Path buttons worked fine (in both the integrated and Monitor submission scripts). Is this occurring on only your 64 bit machines as well, or does it affect all of your machines that you submit from?
Within the submission dialog, the paths shouldn’t have any quotes around them.
Cheers,
the quotes are added automatically. this happens to all the machines. i dont know why.
Can you send us a screen shot of where this is happening? I can’t imagine why quotes would be getting added. Just to confirm, this is on Windows right? Now that 3.0 is multiplatform, I should have asked this earlier.
Sorry, I thought i mentioned that i was using Windows XP 64 bit for the deadline submittion. (that was in the other post ). The quotes are showing up under render options -> output path. I also highlighted the group category because of some stuff that looked fishy to me. i dont know why unc paths are not supported but it might be the cause or an entirely different issue.
Thanks,
Jonathan
It looks like the pools list is getting messed up as well. On the machine you’re submitting from, check the task manager to see if there are any deadlinecommand or deadlinecommandbg processes running in the background. If there are, kill them and then try displaying the submission dialog again. Now, are the pool and group drop downs still showing the same messed up lists? If they look good (ie: you can see the ‘none’ option for both), now try selecting the output path to see if you get different results.
Cheers,
I just checked for deadlinecommand and deadlinecommandbg but they didnt show up in task manager. I even closed deadline all the way and reopened it. The Pool and Groups are still both messed up.
Have you tried restarting the machine? The only thing I can think of that would be causing this problem is that the files that deadlinecommandbg is writing to are locked, and thus Deadline keeps reading the same information for every query (pools, groups, output path, etc) from these locked files. Normally, each query would overwrite these files and Deadline would get the new information before performing the next query. A restart would ensure that everything is fresh and clean, and should hopefully fix this problem. If not, let us know!
Thanks
Its working now… but that wasnt the cause… i think it is the same thing as what was crashing maya. doesnt matter now i guess. its working.
Thanks,
Jonathan
