Particle count reduction by radius in PRT Cloner

Hello,

I’m using PRT cloner with shapes of various size in it, and it would be great if I could somehow reduce number of particles by size, this would greatly optimize the rendertimes. Thanks!

If you are using the Scale channel to change the size of the particles, it will survive the PRT Cloner and you can drop a Magma on top to read its content and produce a Selection so that small-scaled particle sources are reduced by a Delete modifier. I just tested it and it works.

If you have multiple shapes with specific sizes and you are not scaling them using the Scale channel in the PRT Cloner, then you would have to add a Magma to each shape and set a channel for each one of them describing the average size. This way, each particle will carry knowledge of the size of its source, and the above approach could again set a Selection channel to perform a Delete.

But I really hope you are scaling the cloned sources using the Scale channel as it would make things much easier…

If I misunderstood something, please let me know!

Aye, it works  I managed to reduce the paricle cont 2x. Though I’m still grumbling at the noise node output

Edit: Yes, got it, should be actually doing it with the selection channel! Awesome
