Hi Ryan,
it happened to me a couple of times now, so i thought i might suggest a (probably easy to add) feature.
Let´s say i am using a render node to encode sth. with a program that is (not yet) supported by deadline.
I start the encoding process only to realize 40min later, (this is our idle setting) everything was lost because the slave was idle and deadline shut down that machine…
So here comes my suggestion/feature request
In the power management dialogue it would be cool to have a CPU threshold-option to override the “idle shutdown” feature.
If the CPU stays above a defined value (e.g. 50%), that machine will not be shut down.
Another option would be do define a list of programs which - when running- prevent that machine from being shut down.
I hope you consider this as a feature for a future release,
Timor
p.s. Any news from Iridas regarding the metarender chunk-size issue (only one render node at a time…)?
