Hi,
I love this feature, and want to expand it to the workstations, not just the render machines.
We use DR with Vray a lot ,and I wonder what Deadline classifies as idle, ie not mouse movements for a time, no cpu usage etc? I want to make sure the machines just sat there rendering over DR will not shutdown.
Many thanks,
Mark
Hey Mark,
The idleness is based solely on how long the Deadline Slave has been in the idle state. However, you can list one or more Important Processes in the Idle Shutdown settings:
thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … e_Shutdown
If one of these processes are running on the machine, Deadline won’t shut it down, even if the Slave has idled longer than the specified limit.
Cheers,
Hi,
Of course, I had seen that option and totally overlooked it!
I will try adding the 3dsmax.exe process to the list and see if it works. The vray Dr process starts the max process so just one of them should do the trick.
Many thanks, and the planet says thanks too with all the electricity saved!
Mark
Tested over the last few days and works great. I’ve added the photoshop, firefox and outlook processes as well as 3dsmax and that has kept workstations on over night if people have left work open.
When is 6.o out? (snuck that in there to see if anyone is tired and tells!)
Mark
Glad it’s working well!
We’re announcing 6.0 at Siggraph. There will be more information available after the show.
Cheers,
I could use a feature like, detect mouse movements for a time, no cpu usage etc?, since some of my colleges leave there programs running when they leave the office , and then the “processes are running on the machine” feature wont work
