What if the artist disabled the option to launch the slave when the launcher starts, and then the slave doesn’t launch when the machine is woken up? Isn’t that bad? It means that Deadline has now turned on a machine that won’t be able to participate in the render.
I must be misunderstanding your use case here…
In that case the idle scheduling would kick in, and launch the slave instead.

I think we could add this option, and just document that it should only be turned off if you are relying on other ways to launch the slave on the machine once it has woken up.
