Power Mangement with multiple slaves

How is power management supposed to work with multiple slaves. If we have two slaves running and one is idle it shuts down the entire machine and crashes/stalls the other slave. Shouldn’t idle shutdown only occur when all slaves are idle on a physical machine? Similarly is there a way on startup to launch specific slaves? For instance if we have two different slaves on a machine and only one of them has pools it can render is it possible on startup to just have Slaves that weren’t spun up to just shut down?

E.g. Let’s say we have two slaves.

“3ds Max Slave”
“Nuke Slave”

The Nuke slave might get spun up when a Nuke job is submitted. If the machine is off, send a WOC if the launhcer is running just launch the needed slave. When the 3ds max slave finishes it will shut down the nuke slave. I want the 3dS Max slave to be killed when idle for X minutes. And then if no other slaves are running to shut down. I could set up a critical task but then it would never shut down.

Hey Gavin,

I might need to look into that a bit and see if such a thing is possible. Let me look into that tomorrow.

Any chance to look into thisyet?

Hello Gavin,

Still have this on my list of things to look into, will let you know once I have a chance to check.

Hello Gavin,

I did some testing, and it seems like it is unfortunately the case that if one of the slaves went into an idle state, it would trigger idle shutdown, even in the case of the second slave not being done. I am reporting this to the devs today and we will see if we can get this fixed for a future build. Thanks for instigating this issue’s discovery!
