Problem installing 4.1SP1 on OS X 10.5.8

Hi, I’m trying to install Deadline 4.1SP1 in unlicensed mode on OS X 10.5.8. I have uninstalled mono using this script, and then installed Mono 2.6.7. I had had VirtualBox installed, but uninstalled it after seeing this, and after doing so removed and reinstalled Mono and Deadline and rebooted the system.

I am able to run the ClientSetupWizard, but all the other Deadline apps start X11 and then do nothing. If i run /Applications/Deadline/DeadlineMonitor.app/Contents/MacOS/DeadlineMonitor it prints the following:

Will:MacOS will$ ./DeadlineMonitor Gtk not found (missing LD_LIBRARY_PATH to libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0?), using built-in colorscheme Deadline Monitor 4.1: length (System.ArgumentException) at System.Array.Copy (System.Array sourceArray, Int32 sourceIndex, System.Array destinationArray, Int32 destinationIndex, Int32 length) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Net.NetworkInformation.MacOsNetworkInterface.ImplGetAllNetworkInterfaces () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Net.NetworkInformation.NetworkInterface.GetAllNetworkInterfaces () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Will:MacOS will$ pwd /Applications/Deadline/DeadlineMonitor.app/Contents/MacOS

Running UpdatePathVariable gives the following output:

Will:MacOS will$ /Applications/Deadline/Resources/bin/deadlinecommand UpdatePathVariable Gtk not found (missing LD_LIBRARY_PATH to libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0?), using built-in colorscheme Error occured while editing environment.plist file: Document element did not appear. file:///Users/will/.MacOSX/environment.plist Line 1, position 1.

And Finally, Mono’s version info:

Will:MacOS will$ mono -V Mono JIT compiler version 2.6.7 (tarball Tue Aug 24 16:33:27 MDT 2010) Copyright (C) 2002-2010 Novell, Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com TLS: normal GC: Included Boehm (with typed GC) SIGSEGV: normal Notification: Thread + polling Architecture: x86 Disabled: none

That looks like the error that occurs when Virtual Box is installed. This problem shouldn’t be an issue anymore in Deadline 5, so if you want to join the beta for it, let me know!

I think running that command on OSX requires elevation, so it would work when run by the installer, but not manually from a terminal.

Cheers,

Thanks Ryan! I’d be interested in joining the v5 beta – let me know what to do

Great! I just sent you a private message with the details.
