PRT Hierarchy Deform

i know i can deform prt loaders, with flex and other modifiers, but how could i deform the prt so that it deforms based on other objects (that are in a hierarchy) or deform based on a spline, im trying to get the same twist as another object,

any help is appreciated
thanks

path deform WSM works great for splines just noticed!

hmmm

static splines work fine, but as soon as the spline is animated, the prt loader becomes invisible or hidden far away in scene,
static spline work fine, but animated splines dont seem to work

any tips or tricks anyone can sharE?

How is the spline animated? If the Spline itself has keyframed transforms, after aligning the deformed object to the spline (using the Move To Path button), you MUST parent the deformed object to the spline to preserve the zero offset of their transformation matrices. (This has nothing to do with Krakatoa, it is general Max wisdom).

If the knots of the spline are animated via object space modifiers, I would expect that to work ok with PRT Loaders (and anything else).

each spline knot is animated, either rigged to other objects, or baked, in both versions, even after MOVING TO PATH, it does not come back,

i now tried what you said, parenting the prtloader with path deform to the spline, but still its lost and “gone”, also tried with local PathDeform and not WSM

weird

bobo,

could i send a scene with animated spline or something that you could look at?

it would be really great to deform prts to animated splines, maybe the path deformer is limited, is it something that could be implemented in krakatoa 2, deforming to animated splines?

Sure, I would be interested in looking at your file to understand the problem.

alright ill send it tonight

Chris sent me your scene, but it did not contain any PRTs.
I made a PRT Volume from a very long cylinder, added a Path Deform to it, moved to the path and it deformed correctly.
But a PRT Volume is not a PRT sequence, so I wonder if there is something about your particles (esp. their location in object space in relation to the PRT Loader’s origin) that causes problems. Is there any way to get me (a reduced version of) your PRT sequence?

jea i didnt send the prts, i just did a simple pflow standard setup as a test, ill send some prts tonight, or if you have some on ur machine, anything, it can even be empty, the prt loader disappears for me, does it not disappear for you when u path deform it to the spline?

I see.
It works with PRT Volumes but fails with PRT Loaders once the vertices become animated.
I will pass it to Darcy to take a look…

Cheers,
Bobo

thanks!
