Pulse and deadline6

Is Pulse needed anymore with deadline6? If so, how does one install it? I loaded the client and repo on my file server but Pulse didn’t seem to be one of the apps that was installed.

Thanks!!

From what I understand, Pulse is no longer useful as af 6.0.
Thus in is not a standard installation.

It is still installed with the Client, we just forgot to create a Start Menu item for it. This will be addressed in the next Deadline release. If you go to your Client bin folder (ie: C:\Program Files\Thinkbox\Deadline6\bin), you’ll find the Pulse executable there.

Pulse still can play a role, but is only required for the more advanced Deadline Features. This FAQ item should sum it up:

Same here - how do you install pulse with the release of Deadline 6 (and also, is there a submission script installer?)

As I mentioned above, it’s still installed with the Deadline Client. You just need to run it from the bin folder.

Currently, there isn’t a submission script installer for Deadline 6, but you can find the installation instructions in our documentation under Application Plugins:

Just click on the application you want to set up the script for, and look for the Integrated Submission Script installation section.

Sorry, I missed your reply - thanks. I’ll look into the intergrated submission script install details too. Cheers for your quick reply!

If you use Wake-on-Lan and other power management features you still need pulse. But that’s mostly the extent of its use.
