Push install Deadline 4

Hi,

I see the deadline 4 client installer is now an .exe file instead of the msi that we had for 3.
normally we’d use /passive /i REPOSITORYINSTALLDIR=\server\repositorydir LICENSESERVER=licserver

Does the new installer also support silent push installs and what would the equivalent be?

(EDIT) BTW this should install the x64 version of the client.

Hi Dennis,

Yes, the Deadline 4.0 installer supports silent installations. Usage instructions can be found here:

I should note that the /prefix setting for the install location doesn’t work in Deadline 4.0 and 4.0 SP1 (this bug will be fixed in 4.1). So Deadline will always install to C:\Program Files (x86)\Prime Focus\Deadline\bin, even if you are on a x64 machine.

Now that I’ve deployed succesfully,
how would installing SP1 work, with the corrected path (program files in stead of (x86)?
Or will that be explained in the install docs when SP1 is released?

The process for doing minor upgrades (ie: 4.0 to 4.0 SP1, or 4.0 SP1 to 4.1) is explained here:

If you have Automatic Updates enabled, rolling out minor upgrades is very simple. This is explained further in the link above.
