I’m at Pixomondo.
I need use the camera map technique that you have here as “Camera Mapping Particles Using Dataflow” tutorial.
I follow the tutorial step by step 3 time , but I couldn’t get it to work.
I attached the file that I made, please take a look at this give me some answer!
this file made in Max2010 with Krakatoa 1.6 and Boxtool3.
Unfortunately, I don’t have Box #3 installed at home.
I will see if I can get it installed tomorrow.
Why do you have to use that ancient technique? There have been a bunch of simpler tricks developed since then. (see the Studio Monthly tutorial from several years ago). We also have a dedicated Camera Projection map to do this kind of effect. It is not commercially available, but if there is interest, who knows…
In short, the Studio Monthly Tutorial workflow goes like this:
*You create particles in PFlow as usual, but leave them static (no speed, no forces)
*You use the 3ds Max Camera Map Per Pixel in a material and camera project the colors onto your particles as needed.
*You save the result to a PRT sequence including Color and ID channels.
*Then you load the PRT sequence in a PRT Loader.
*You create a PFlow setup with PRT Birth and PRT Update and load the particles back, including the Color channel, but excluding the Position channel.
*Now you can apply forces and collisions, but the colors from the original projection pass will stick to the particles as they move, which is the effect we wanted.
