Hi all,
Still on with the trial of deadline, and we finally have a large render job to test it out on.
We are seeing a problem where some of the slaves are showing very different rendertimes around the same frame range.
On the attached screenshot, the 8xx machines are all the same spec, whereas the 600 machine is my workstation rendering overnight (which is a lot quicker)
The 600 machine has a fairly constant render time over all the frames, but the 8xx machines have gone a bit mental, one of them taking 10 hours for a 1024x768 frame!
We have pulse running to make sure they aren’t all copying files at the same time, and a quick network, so that can’t be the bottleneck.
The only job log on the 10 hour render was 0: WARNING: Pressed the “Retry” button on popup “Image I/O Error”
Any ideas?
Thanks

Typically this error in 3dsMax network rendering: "Pressed the “Retry” button on popup “Image I/O Error” means that particular Deadline slave does not have access to the file server it is trying to write 1 or more render output files to. Either the mapped drive letter to a network share on a windows file server box has gone, permissions are incorrect, incorrect path has been set by an artist which is pointing to a semi-dead DNS server entry or something else network/file server related, such as an application such as After Effects has currently ‘locked’ the file OPEN at an application level and hence, this is stopping the image file from being over-written by the render node. (Typically, AE does this only to frame-0 by the way)
Are you using the “mapped drives” function in the Deadline global repository settings?
