Remote Control problems

Hey There,
First time installing/using Deadline (running on OS X), and I’m having trouble using the “Remote Control” features to stop and start slaves. The error I’m getting is “Connection refused”. I am able to render, but not able to administer the computers from the monitor. I don’t believe there are any firewall issues, and I’m not able to use remote control to start/stop services on the same computer that I’m launching the monitor from. As far as I can tell “Remote Management” is enabled on the renderfarm machines. Does Deadline have to use a VNC software in order to execute any of the “remote control” commands? My understanding is that the VNC option would only be used if I need to control the other computers directly.

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

To confirm that Remote Administration is enabled, check the Repository Options under the “Launcher Settings”. These are global settings, so you only have to set this from one Monitor in your farm. After confirming that this has been enabled, make sure that the Deadline Launcher is running on your remote machines. The remote communication is handled by this application, so it needs to be running in order for your Monitor to connect to the remote machine. If they are already running, try restarting the Launchers, since they only refresh their Repository Settings every 10 minutes.

Cheers,

Thanks, I managed to skim over that part (launcher running as well as slave) if it was in the manual. Looks like it’s working now. I’m guessing I’ll have a couple more questions, so thanks in advance.
