Render dies at startup under mentalray

Woes!..no matter what I try, the render dies right after submitting it.

If I do so with maya software it has no issues and renders thru ok…Mental Ray…that´s another story.

No final gather but mental shaders so no joy on rendering it under maya software.

this is what turns out:

Hi there,

Deadline is just the messenger in this case. Maya is reporting that it failed to render the scene, and Deadline is just passing that information on. I googled the error, and found that Autodesk has a Knowledge Base entry for this problem:
usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps … C-RSSSUP01

Hope this information is helpful!

Mental Ray for Maya needs a license for batch rendering. This problem is not specific to Deadline, and again Deadline is just the messenger in this case.

We don’t control how applications like Maya are licensed, so you will need to contact Autodesk about purchasing batch licenses so that you can render Mental Ray for Maya jobs on your farm. I do know that if you purchase network interactive Maya licenses (as opposed to node-locked), you should get 5 batch licenses for every 1 interactive license. These batch licenses can be used to render Mental Ray for Maya jobs on your farm. So it might be the case that you just need to configure your render nodes to pull batch licenses from your Maya license server.

Cheers,

  • Ryan
