Hi guys,
I have a windows machine running 3dsmax, and a Mac for rendering only, both machines have deadline on, but if I send two frames to be rendered, the both machines receive a frame each and start to render, the windows machine runs ok and renders the frame, however the Mac starts then errors and restarts the render a number of timed before failing, is it possible to render in this way or does 3dS max need to be on twos windows machines to work ? The Mac slave error log says can’t find find the 3dsmax exe file
Any help would be appreciated
Andy
Unfortunately, Autodesk’s 3dsMax only runs on Windows OS, so you won’t be able to use a Mac natively for 3dsMax rendering.
Hi Mike,
thanks for the reply, stupid question, but do I need 3ds max on both windows machines to render out?
Andy
Hi Andy,
Yes, all machines that you wish to partake in network rendering with 3dsMax, needs to have 3dsMax software (incl. Backburner) installed as Deadline makes reference to the Backburner software (but doesn’t actually use the applications). 3dsMax doesn’t use a license whilst in network render mode, known as slave mode. If it helps at all, here’s our 3dsMax FAQ’s:
