I’m not sure. Do you know if backburner supports this? If it does, does it have any options to do what you’re looking for?

thanks
In the afterwork web site, it mention, than you can sim without render if you put in range od rendering field 1 to 1.

From sitni sati: If user does not want simulation to be renderer automatically after simulation is finished, then rendering range can be set to a single frame.

Thanks for the info. Just to confirm, when you use the single frame option, Deadline performs the simulation only, but for only a single frame. Is this correct?

Yes, if you use single option, is for the current frame, deadline or max sim the current frame and render the current frame only.
the best way is to put in the render range the same frame! you can if you wont deactivate the render output save file.

Here’s something to try.

  1. Before you submit the job to Deadline, select the Single Frame option in the 3dsmax render options.

  2. In the 3dsmax submission dialog, check the option to submit the job as suspended. Then submit the job.

  3. In the Monitor, right-click on the job and select the option to Modify Frame Range, and change the frame range to the sequence you want to simulate. I can’t remember if the simulation has to be done as a single task with all the frames, so you may have to adjust the frames per task accordingly.

  4. Resume the job.

I imagine this might work because the max file should still have the single frame option set, but Deadline will render the frame range defined for the job. Let us know if this helps, and we can try to work in an option into the 3dsmax submission script to make this process a little more streamlined.

Thanks, I will try soon as possible!
