Slave Scheduling

Hey !
I’m still trying to make cohabit Deadline & Backburner on render nodes.
My goal is to stop DL slave when there is renders in backburner & launch slave when machine is not active for 5min (aka no more jobs queued in Backburner).

I can successful launch slave with Idle detection + CPU/RAM utilisation.

But i was wondering if there is a way to stop slave for X reason.
All i can see, is just for launching slave only.

I’ve tried the Idle Detection : Stop slave when machine is no longer Idle but it looks like made for workstation more than for rendernodes.
I mean, this is mouse/keyboard based and when i remote a node i stop this Idle status so it stop the slave…

Would it be possible to make the customs conditions on processes “3dsmax.exe” available for Idle status, and not only for Start slave.

Thanks !

Hello,

Unfortunately we don’t have anything for idle detection that is based on cpu or ram usage, as you are right it’s based on keyboard and mouse movement, not internal hardware activity. The only thing we have is the slave scheduling based on time, but that isn’t reactive. I will try to have a talk with some coworkers next week to see if anyone can think up a way to make this work for you.
