I have a machine that had max installed without backburner. When it goes to render a max job with deadline it will not render and gives an error that says " could not automatically detect install location of backburner, which 3dsmax requires to run in network renderin mode…"
What can I do to get around this? I tried installing backburner separately but it still throws this error. Is there a way around this? A config file or something?
Thanks.
Backburner must be installed on the machine to render.
There is a bug in the current version of Deadline where it will complain that it can’t detect newer versions of backburner, which is what you’re running into here. This can be fixed for now by disabling the “Check That 3dsmax Installation Is Valid” setting in the 3dsmax plugin configuration. You can access this from the Tools menu in the Monitor while in super user mode by selecting Tools -> Configure Plugins.
This bug will be fixed in the upcoming 5.2 maintenance release.
Cheers,
