Slaves rendering in French.

Hi,

I have a couple of machines that have decided to render in French, and as the French version has never been started before they have failed as (I think) the “New Features” dialog box has frozen Max. Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks in advance,

Josh.

Hello Josh,

The SMTD submitter actually has an option under the Options tab to override the language being used, which should help improve your renders. You can find this at docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/produc … ptions-tab and hopefully things are smoother after that change.

Have you recently changed anything in your setup? I would like to know about the adding of any 3rd party scripts or plugins to your setup? This is one of those really odd situations I’ve only seen a few times, where it’s something 3rd party which is screwing your nodes language settings.

Random thought, anything else odd started happening recently in your setup? Think sideways…power cut? 3dsMax Material editor in 3dsmax stop showing large texture maps, or anything out of the ordinary started happening recently before this issue also started happening?

Another random thought, do you have any new artists in your studio, who may have added anything to started to reference a “foreign” 3dsmax scene file?

Last time I saw this issue, a studio added a 3rd party 3dsmax plugin which weirdly had been compiled on a machine based in Germany, which somehow encouraged 3dsMax to startup in German…odd. So, hopefully, your understand my really obscure questions above.

Dwight is spot-on, forcing the language should get you back on track. However, there is still the root cause out there…

Hi Dwight, Mike,

Thanks for the response. I’ll have a little poke around and a think to see what I can come up with.

So far I booted Max in French and turned off the “new features” dialog. Interestingly the 3DsMax quick launch icon changed to starting in French, so I removed it and re=launched in English. This seems to have stopped the failed jobs. I will investigate further and post my results.
