Stop deadline from starting on a machine involuntarily

How does one control deadline from starting on a machine from using its resources specially when a user is working on it.

If you’re using the scheduled start or idle detection then you can use the option shown below

  • Only Start If Launcher Is Not Running As These Users: If enabled, the Worker will only be launched if the launcher is not running as one of the specified users.

https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/products/deadline/10.1/1_User%20Manual/manual/worker-schedule.html#miscellaneous-options

This is tried but for some reason does not work, as in it does not take effect. After adding a user, say “Z” to this list, deadline still renders on this “Z” users machine.

Is their a way to debug this issue or some workaround ?

Do you have Pulse running? It’s needed for this. does the username match? is maybe worth querying in command prompt / terminal to check if its z@abc.com, or z@local etc

It’s always worth submitting a ticket to @support
