Submit jobs from Fusion 7

Hello,
We’ve installed Fusion 7 in our studio and having a problem with sending jobs to Deadline.
When I run the DeadlineFusionClient.eyeonscript it makes an error says: “Failed to create Font:” (see attached image)
We’re using Deadline 6.2.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hello,

Do you know if there is any logging in Fusion, or maybe a place it outputs what is going on behind the scenes? I am not sure what is causing that error, but it is one we want to fix. Can you also verify what version of Deadline you run? Thanks.

Thanks dwallbridge for responding.
We’re using Deadline Version: 6.2.0.32 R (2563d5bc8).
There is a console tab in Fusion that shows all the errors that occurs in the .comp file. While I run the script the console shows:

Which means it failed during loading the script imo. I know some lua and had a chance writing some scripts, and it seems (to me) that the lua version was changed between Fusion 6 and 7. Because I had to re-write some scripts for myself.
I can guess what is wrong with the script. The DeadlineFusionClient.eyeonscript is running SubmitToDeadline.eyeonscript after it’s done with the CustomSanityChecks.
lua has a library called IUP which creates all the dialogs (UI) in SubmitToDeadline.eyeonscript. while I looked in SubmitToDeadline.eyeonscript code I found:

I removed the code font = “”, (it exists twice in the code) and the UI works. But now I have another issues.
The technical guy in our studio installed Fusion 7 RenderSlave on few machines so we can test it and we assigned them to Fusion 7 pool.
After I succeeded to send the Fusion 7 job to Deadline, I get an errors again but this time from the slaves, here is the log:

After that, I checked Configure Plugins → Fuision from Deadline Monitor and there are only Fusion 5 and 6 Options there, maybe the slave don’t know from where to run the Fusion 7 RenderSlave. (see attached image)

That’s how far I managed to get, hope it helps. We would love to use Fusion 7 and Deadline as soon as we can.

Thanks again,
Jonathan.

So, the primary problem here actually is that we don’t support Fusion 7 within Deadline 6.2.0. We just released 6.2.1 which doesn’t need a new license.

Try upgrading and see if that helps. Here’s the minor upgrade guide:
thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … r_Upgrades

The downloads will be at the same location as you received from sales (sorry I can’t post the link here).

Thanks eamsler for responding.
We will contact our sales man to get the upgrade installer and check it.
Do you know if Deadline 6.2.1 will support Fusion 7? or i’ll get the answer for it only after the upgrade?

Ah, sorry I wasn’t explicit. Yes, Fusion 7 will work in 6.2.1.

Ok, it is working! thank you very much.

Welcome

has anyone tried Fusion 7.5 free (BlackMagic) with deadline 6.2.1 ?

does it work?

thanks

Error in StartJob: eyeonScript failed to make a connection in StartJob.eyeonscript - check that eyeonscript options are set to no login required

where is this file?

thanks

Hello,

So I was looking over the settings in Fusion, as that is not a Deadline setting, and found the settings you need in the attached screenshot. Just look for the Preferences option in the menus to bring the window up.

Cheers

Hi,

Regards Fusion 7.5 free, I’m trying it now, but the renderslave.exe files are missing because its the free version, I tried putting the fusion.exe in the list, but don’t think it can be that easy!! I have no issue with the submission dialogue starting, and the job is in the deadline job list, but errors same as previous person. Checked the script login settings and they are set to no login required.

I think its a limitation of the free version. Forever hopeful that Deadline can get round buying the render nodes, and free can render.

Mark

My understanding of Fusion 7.5 going forward is that network rendering is a pay-for feature only available in the commercial version of Fusion.

Yes it does seem that way. They don’t seem to sell render nodes lic’s either, just the full studio. I’ll have to do some more digging!
