We are trying to sending a single image distributing job from 3DS Max 2013 with Vray3 to the render farm. The problem is that only the host machine rendering the image and non of the other machines form the DR list pick the job. Before we use to sent this type of jobs to backburner without any problems. One machine received the job and as host distributing and add all other machines from the list. Is there a special way to send Vray DR jobs to render?
Many thanks,
Hello,
I was wondering if you have tried to render on the node outside deadline, see if it distributes properly using that method?
Yes. It is rendering fine. Actually we have to use Autodesk Backburner at the moment because we can’t managed to render with deadline. When I sent it with deadline the slave load the job and start rendering. I can see that it trying to distributed (the vray buckets has name) but non of the other machines buckets appear.
Many thanks,
Hello,
I think we would be better off doing a remote session here. Can you email support@thinkboxsoftware.com and we ca arrange a time? Thanks.
Update for everyone watching this thread:
Everything was set up perfectly to allow DR to work inside of Max. The machines were configured in VRay’s config files, the scene had DR enabled, but the render only farmed out to other machines when we ran 3DS Max in Workstation mode.
I’m not exactly sure why WM was needed here, but I’ll be getting files soon and will hopefully have time this week to do testing on it.
Blarg. This is a known limitation:

Props to Mike for writing up the awesome docs.
