I’m having some trouble with a particular error in deadline using Maya.
It’s stemming from the fact that deadline is attempting to copy something from a temp directory that doesn’t exist, to the output path.
The output drive is mapped on every machine in question so it’s not the destination that’s the issue.
From what I can tell, these are the highlights of the errors the log produces;

This error is produced at the start of a job by several machines, and I’ve not been able to find a common trait between them that is causing the problem. But each time the error is generated; the next instance of the error has a different random set of characters at the end of the temp folder name.
I tried quickly creating a folder with the correct name at the location, but this didn’t help as deadline is still expecting some kind of files to be in there when it checked.
I’ve seen a few other posts on the forums with a similar problem, but all using different versions of deadline, and solved by options I’ve already had users try.
We’re using Deadline 5.1.0.47014 with Maya 2012 (latest hotfix) and Windows 7 x64 on all machines.
It doesn’t seem to matter whether we use MayaCMD or MayaBatch,
I’ve also had users experiment with not/using Enable Local Rendering.

Could I have you try the job with local rendering and mayabatch both turned off, and then send us the report from the job? The error is definitely happening at the end of the render, and we need to find out why it seems nothing is being saved. Thanks.

So based on the end of that log, it appears that local rendering is still turned on for this job. Could I have you turn that off in submission, as well as turning off mayabatch for me, and that will hopefully get us more info.

Ok, so it looks like the issue now is actually relatively easy to fix. In the submission window, I believe, there is an option to ignore 211 errors. I don’t have Maya installed on my machine here, but if you have that option enabled, it should let the render go through just fine. Hope that helps.
Disabling Error 211 ignoring didn’t solve the issue for us, it gave out the error messages below as a result.
However, on a whim, I asked the user to put the scene into a new project and resubmit it, just to see what would happen, and it worked, rendered fine, and produced readable files upon completion.
I’m including the error messages from before just in case they’re of any use to you.

In looking at this, I am seeing at least a few mentions of plugins not being in the MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH but those don’t seem critical. I am wondering why the slave is reporting it cannot load the scene. Can you maybe try to turn off local rendering and see how or if that helps? Thanks.
Took me a while to get around to this!
The error didn’t pop up again for over a month, but it struck again today so I got the artist to run the job with MayaCMD and local rendering turned off,
I’m not much of a Maya user, but the top half of errors just looks like Maya complaining about scene details and objects which shouldn’t be important? I copied it anyway though just in case.
We tried the same job a second time originally and it produced the same;
…error messages for each task on each machine.
So I had the artist try again just with enable local rendering turned on, the job completed within seconds and produced zero files.
Next I tried with MayaCMD, local rendering on, 211 checking OFF;
And then finally MayaCMD, local rendering OFF, 211 checking OFF,
And finally I submitted with the previous settings, but with strict error checking ON, just in case the error messages are any better
Sorry it’s a bit long, figured it’s better to give too much than too little again!
Maya 211 errors are a bit annoying. It’s Maya’s way of saying “I couldn’t find a file”. That can be a Mel script file, some scene asset, or the scene itself.
Best way to troubleshoot these are to take the scene over to the render node and try them out there.
The tricky part with cgkomodo’s scene is that’s there’s path mapping going on, so you have to try and go harvest the scene from one of the nodes to test this.
In that example, you could have found the ma file here on the ‘Lon-tbs-gum121’ machine:
C:/Users/deadline/AppData/Local/Thinkbox/Deadline/slave/Lon-tbs-gum121/jobsData/Sc140_v007.ma
That gets deleted after the job ends though, so you have to be quick or diligent (or both )
Kikoman, feel free to shoot us your log too. I’m expecting to see a ‘file not found’ somewhere. Maya’s UI would give you a lot more info on that then MayaBatch. Sad state of affairs.
