Tile Rendering - 3ds max and vray

Hi Guys,

We have been having some problems when rendering tiles. Often a couple of tiles beauty passes will be saved over by one of the elements. We experienced a similar problem with animations. That was fixed with the “Restart Renderer between Frames” option. Unfortunately that has not helped with the tiles. We have also tried turning on “Restart Max” option which has not helped. If it makes any difference when we submit our tile jobs as one job.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem? Is so are there any workarounds. A lot of our work is high-res stills so this is becoming a bit of an issue.

We are currently using the latest version of Deadline (that can be downloaded), 3ds max 2011, V-Ray 1.5.

Hey Dave,

That’s strange that the “Restart Renderer between Frames” option isn’t helping here, and even stranger that the “Restart Max” option makes no difference. The only difference between the animation rendering and tile rendering code is that we set a region to be rendered instead of the entire frame, so anything that works for animations should work the same for tiles.

Maybe watch to see which slave(s) render the tiles that overwrite the beauty pass. Maybe there is a bad apple in the farm that’s responsible for this issue.

Yeah I am going through and selectively testing the nodes now. It is very weird. Will let you how I go.
