Hi Frank,
I’m not familiar with the Tile Rendering Contribution map passes in Maya 2009. We’re out of the office until January 5, but if you can provide more information on what this feature is and how you would like to see Deadline support it, we can use that as a starting point when investigating if Deadline can support this feature when we get back.
Thanks!
Hello,
Currently in the Submit to Deadline output window in Maya there is an option to do Tiling rendering with Mental Ray.
Can this function work with the Contribution Map framebuffers?
After tiles are rendered, are they reassembled in a comp package?
Thanks,
After reading up on it a bit, I imagine this would work. The tile rendering isn’t specific to any renderer, so it’s available for those renderers that support it (mental ray, maya software, renderman, etc). A tile render simply involves rendering different regions of an image on different machines, so any standard maya features should be compatible. Have you tried this yourself? If you have tried it and you’ve experienced problems, let us know.
Depending on the image type, the tiles will be automatically assembled when they are all complete. If you run the tile assembler from a DOS prompt without any arguments (the executable is in the Deadline bin folder), it will print out the supported formats.
Cheers,
Hello Ryan,
I did try it a week ago and it gave me errors. It wasn’t a good test so I will try it again and let you know.
