I’m deploying the Deadline software wide to a number of machines and wish to have the Deadline Launcher NOTlaunch the Slave at startup. Is there a preference file or a setting I can change on arch-render that will turn off this option?
The issue I’m running into is that the user installs the Deadline software via our deployable package, launches Monitor to submit a render job, and has to kill the Slave because the Launcher app (which starts automatically) is set to launch it at startup by default.
We’re running the v3.03353 on Win XP. Thanks for the help.
Cheers,
Eric
You can right-click on the Launcher icon in the system tray and uncheck the Launch Slave At Startup menu item.
Cheers,
Hey Ryan, that’s what we’re currently doing, but I was hoping there was a way to change it so that option wasn’t enabled by default. If not, is there a way to configure the Deadline setup so that the Monitor could be started without automatically starting the Launcher?
You could edit the deadline.ini file, which is found in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Frantic Films\Deadline. The setting is:
LaunchSlaveAtStartup=True/False
Launching the Monitor from the Start Menu uses the Launcher to start the Monitor. If you created a shortcut directly to DeadlineMonitor.exe, you could use that instead.
Cheers,
Great, that’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Eric
