Using mainly C4D R16 & R17, have plenty of licenses on our C4D license server to cover all clients, yet for some reason our clients are randomly stalling out with a “No Plugin” error. Never had this issue with past Deadline versions.
Anyone have any suggestions?
The (no plugin) you are seeing is just telling you that the log you are seeing is from a point where the slave was not doing a job. That column you see is reporting the plugin that was in use on the log in question, but a stalled slave report is not related to a job, and thus has none.
As for the stalling, in general, the cause is that the slave didn’t update the database with it’s status for longer than the allotted time. This can be due to the slave dying unexpectedly, the machine crashing, or even the slave info thread on the slave app stopping unexpectedly. I would check the slave for any of these potential problems.
Ok,
That makes more sense now, thanks. I have checked on the clients while this was happening and they seemed to be rendering just fine, for whatever reason this started happening right after the Deadline update. I’ve re-rendered a couple projects now that did render without a hiccup in the previous Deadline version that are now stalling clients. I guess I’ll keep looking at the logs to see if I spot anything unusual.
I have just started to have this exact issue, but with 3ds max 2014, and an old project. The exact same type of error and no plugin message. Posted a new thread, hope its fixable.
That sounds like the slave info thread, which is what updates the DB that things are still running, is dying. Unfortunately I don’t think we have a fix for this in Deadline 7. I know in Deadline 8, upgrading to the latest version would be the fix as we have that fix in 8.0.7.3, but Deadline 7 is no longer being updated.
