Using Deadline on AWS with only private IP

Hi.

We have set up a Site-To-Site VPN in-between our studio and AWS system, allowing us to connect to AWS instances using private IP. The idea is to cut out the need of public IP altogether.

I am however clueless of what to do next. I have created AMI based on Thinkbox Deadline worker base mounting to EBS volume to host assets and save output. And I tried setting up Spot Event Configuration JSON using the aforementioned AMI. The spot launched correctly, however it did not connect to our repository.

So, do we need to have an instance running that serves the same purpose and Deadline Infrastructure that we would normally start via Deadline Monitor? Is there any documentation on how this can be set up? Can anyone give us some insight please?

When you set up your AMI, were you able to connect to your repository while it was up and running? You don’t need to have an infrastructure equivalent set up. As for docs, the Spot Event Plugin page of the docs should be able to get you most of the way there.

I have not tested that. Do I edited the deadline.ini in the AMI like I do on local machines?

Yep! Try to set it up just like a regular render node.
