Hi,
I made FG map for background in XSI. If I render the background scene frame1-10 with FGmap in XSI, there are one FGmap and 10 images in the output folder. this is normal, right? no animaiting in this background scene. however, I render the same background scene frame 1-10 with the same FGmap for Background using Deadline, there are 10FGmaps and 10 images in the folder. It means Deadline does not use this FGmap. Deadline makes new FGmaps for every single frame. it takes long time to caculate FGmap for every frame. I don’t know what is wrong.
please respond me
thanks
It may be possible that XSI is creating the FG map for each session. If all 10 frames are being rendering by 10 different machines, that could explain the problem. Is it possible to save out the FGMap ahead of time?
Cheers,

Hi Ryan,
Thank for your quick response.
using FGmap saves time alot. but I don’t know it is possible to save out FGmap ahead of time.
It takes 30minutes for each FG map. If I render 100frames, it will takes time to render really long without using FGmap.
Rendering this background needs only one FGmap because there is no animating.
Currently, FGmap stores in the renderserver storage.
as you metioned, If I use just one slave, everything is ok. but use all slaves, this problem happens.
Don’t you think that some network connection problem between the renderfarm and the storage?
when rendering is started, every slave machines has to receive the FGmap from the render server storage.
but it does not look receive FGmap from the storage, so FGmaps are created for each frame.
I’ll check the network connection anyway
thanks
Can you check if local rendering is enabled in the XSI/XSIBatch plugin configurations? You can access this in the Monitor while in super user mode by selecting Tools -> Configure Plugins. If it is enabled, try disabling it and see if that helps. When local rendering is enabled, Deadline gets XSI to render out locally first, and then copies the output to the final network location after completing. It could be possible that XSI is also looking for the FG map on the local machine, and because it can’t find it, it creates it.
I also imagine that if a slave is constructing an FG map, the other slaves won’t be able to use it until it’s complete, so depending on how many slaves you have, that could be a factor as well.
Finally, I’m no expert on this, but I believe it’s possible to create the FG map in Maya and 3dsmax prior to rendering, so I figured there would be some way to do it in XSI. Again, I’m no expert on this.
